張杰,物理學(xué)家,在激光聚變物理與高能量密度物理前沿研究做出重要學(xué)術(shù)成就,并于2003年當(dāng)選中國科學(xué)院院士、2007年當(dāng)選德國科學(xué)院院士、2008年當(dāng)選發(fā)展中國家科學(xué)院院士,2011年當(dāng)選英國皇家工程院外籍院士、2012年當(dāng)選美國科學(xué)院外籍院士,2015年獲得激光聚變和高能量密度物理領(lǐng)域國際最重要獎項(xiàng)-泰勒獎?wù)拢?018年獲得香港求是杰出科技成就團(tuán)隊(duì)獎,2021年獲得未來科學(xué)大獎-物質(zhì)科學(xué)獎。
張杰在2006年至2017年期間任上海交通大學(xué)校長,在大學(xué)治理和大學(xué)教育方面做出了重要貢獻(xiàn),他在上海交通大學(xué)實(shí)施了一系列意義深遠(yuǎn)的改革,推進(jìn)了學(xué)校的全面快速發(fā)展。他提出并實(shí)踐了以人為本的“制度激勵”大學(xué)治理理念;引育并舉,構(gòu)建世界一流的師資隊(duì)伍;建立知識探究、能力建設(shè)、人格養(yǎng)成“三位一體”的創(chuàng)新型領(lǐng)袖人才培養(yǎng)體系;推動面向世界科技前沿、面向國家重大戰(zhàn)略需求的科學(xué)研究。在他和全體交大師生的努力下,交大獲得了高質(zhì)量的快速發(fā)展,成功躋身世界一流大學(xué)的行列。
張杰現(xiàn)任上海交通大學(xué)李政道研究所所長,中國物理學(xué)會理事長,曾任中國科學(xué)院副院長。是中共十七屆、十八屆候補(bǔ)中央委員,十二屆全國政協(xié)常委。
Professor Jie Zhang is a prominent physicist. He works on laser-plasma physics and high energy density physics. He has made outstanding contributions to development of soft X-ray lasers, generation and inertial confinement fusion (ICF), and lab simulation of astrophysical processes with laser-produced plasmas. In 2021, he was awarded the Future Prize for Physical Sciences. In 2015, he was awarded the Edward Teller Medal, the most prestigious prize in the field of ICF and high energy density physics, by the American Nuclear Society, for his significant contributions to the understanding of hot electrons in laser-plasmas relevant to Inertial Confinement Fusion, and successful reproduction of some astrophysical processes using high-power lasers. He was elected the Foreign Associate of National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in 2012, the Foreign Member of Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng) in 2011, the Fellow of Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2008, the member of the German National Academy of Sciences Neopoldina in 2007, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003.
He served as the President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the period of 2006-2017. He is a strong advocating and outstanding practitioner of higher education. He advocates an ethos “pursues knowledge and respects scholars”. He pioneered and executed a model that promotes “student-oriented, integrated education (curricular will the extra-curricular activities, sciences with humanities, teaching with research)”. Under his leadership, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has made remarkable progress on the way to becoming a world-class university. The reforms were taken as a good example for the future universities in the world [Nature 514(2014) 295]. He also served as a vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Professor Zhang is the President of Chinese Physical Society and Director of Tsung-Dao Lee Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The scientific and technological revolutions have accelerated the evolution of human civilization and promoted fundamental changes in the life we live, the productions we create and the ways we think. A new scientific and technological revolution is approaching to us imperceptibly.
